Visual Identity

As designers who are preparing to make themselves known for future workers and clients, a personal identity is crucial. When creating personal identities, they should reflect who we are, our background, our preferences, and other important factors that define us.

I have a fascination with the ideas of the yin and yang, how it is a unity of opposite forces, balancing each other. I feel to me, I have various personalities—quiet at times, energetic the other day—that help bring some level to my character. The image I designed is an inspiration to the yin and yang symbol, incorporating my first initial, "g". The outer and inner shapes form a circle, echoing the yin and yang’s form.

Red has been my established colour ever since childhood. Its striking spectrum presents vibrancy and striking energy, something that I aspire to express for myself. These representations prove all to be true, as it exists everywhere in popular medium. As a fan of pop culture and the fame of the comic genre, the background "textures" feature a collage of animated illustrations I drew, as well as used texts and headlines I found in old newspapers.

Futura is my go-to typeface associated with my personal logo, adding a modern aesthetic. When it comes to the main body text, regular Helvetica Neue makes off a clear legibility.

The design layout for each stationery material takes the logo, name and information in the central position. The exception is with the envelope, where the identity takes place at the left.

The overall personal visual identity brings an honest expression of my individual tastes, but at the same time, provides a clean, simple look to prove myself fitting as a visual communications designer.
